Code Enforcement Division
The Code Enforcement Division operates under the oversight of the McFarland Police Department and can be reached by phone at 661-792-3091 or by email.
The division’s officers serve in dual roles as both Code Enforcement Officers and Animal Control Officers. In addition to enforcing City codes and regulations, they assist with animal-related services and help promote the health, safety, and overall well-being of the community.
Department Functions
The Code Enforcement Division:
- Administers a fair and impartial enforcement program to address violations involving property maintenance, land use, graffiti, illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, junk, litter, debris, parking, and vacant properties.
- Applies City codes and regulations consistently to ensure all residents and property owners are treated fairly.
- Encourages voluntary compliance by providing property owners with reasonable opportunities to correct violations before further enforcement action is taken.
- Responds promptly to complaints involving structures, properties, or conditions that may present a health or safety hazard to the public.
- Works with residents, businesses, and property owners to maintain safe, clean, and well-kept neighborhoods throughout the City.
- Assists with Animal Control responsibilities, including responding to stray or lost animals, enforcing animal-related ordinances, and supporting responsible pet ownership.
