Animal Control

McFarland Animal Services is committed to protecting both animals and the community by providing care, shelter, and support for lost, stray, and abandoned animals. Operating under the McFarland Police Department, the division consists of four full-time officers and one part-time officer who serve in dual roles as both Animal Control Officers and Code Enforcement Officers.

Animal Control Officers work proactively to reunite pets with their families whenever possible and ensure that impounded animals receive safe, compassionate care while awaiting their next opportunity. They also promote animal welfare and community safety through public education on responsible pet ownership, vaccinations, spay and neuter programs, and local animal ordinances.

In their Code Enforcement role, officers help maintain the health, safety, and appearance of the community by addressing violations of City codes and regulations. Animals in the City’s care may be reclaimed by their owners, adopted into loving homes, or transferred to rescue partners, providing each animal with the best possible chance for a positive outcome.
