The City of McFarland Commissary Launchpad is a pilot program designed to help local food entrepreneurs access an affordable, permitted commercial kitchen while developing and growing their businesses.

Through the program, eligible participants may reserve the commercial kitchen at Veterans Hall for food preparation and market testing. The Launchpad is part of the City’s broader effort to create affordable pathways for entrepreneurs to operate through legal and inspected food-business channels. 

What the Launchpad Offers

Participants have access to the Veterans Hall commercial kitchen during available weekdays.

Weekday Rate: $40 per hour
Starter Package: $400 for 20 hours
Additional Starter Package Hours: $20 per hour
Minimum Reservation: 4 consecutive hours per reserved weekday
Advance Booking: Up to 80 hours per month, subject to availability
Optional Storage: $75 per month, if available
Operating Deposit: $350 refundable deposit 

The Launchpad is intended for food entrepreneurs who need access to a commercial kitchen to prepare products, test a food concept, or take the next step in developing their food business.

Program is open to:

Bakers • Caterers • Meal Prep Businesses • Food Vendors • Mobile Food Businesses • Other Eligible Food Entrepreneurs

Program Requirements

Before participating, businesses will be required to complete applicable program requirements, including necessary permits, licensing, insurance, orientation, and the required operating deposit. Participants are also responsible for cleanup and any damage associated with their use of the facility. 

How Scheduling Works

City meetings, community uses, and existing rentals are scheduled first. Available weekday kitchen times are then made available to Launchpad participants.

Because multiple businesses may be interested in the same dates, the program uses a rotating selection process so that one business does not continuously receive first choice. After the initial selection process is complete, remaining available weekdays may be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
