Cinco de Mayo Queen Application

Applications are now open for the City of McFarland’s Cinco de Mayo Queen.

This opportunity is open to female-identifying seniors at McFarland High School. The selected finalist must be available to participate in the Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival on Sunday, April 26.

Applications are due by April 23 at 5:00 p.m. and must be submitted through the online application form.

Cinco de Mayo Festival

Join the City of McFarland for a weekend of celebration, culture, and family fun at the Cinco de Mayo Festival, taking place Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26 at Jim White “Blanco” Park in McFarland, California.

This annual community event brings residents and visitors together for a festive weekend filled with carnival rides, games, local food vendors, live entertainment, and traditional Cinco de Mayo festivities. Highlights will include the McFarland USA Run on Saturday, the crowning of the annual Cinco de Mayo Queen, live music, and the Cinco de Mayo Parade.

More event details will be added soon, but we invite the community to save the date and get ready for a fun-filled weekend for all ages.

Carnival Wristband Presale

The City of McFarland is now offering presale carnival wristbands for the upcoming Cinco de Mayo Festival.

Presale wristbands are available for $35 each and can be purchased in person at City Hall, located at 401 W. Kern Avenue, McFarland, CA.

Presale wristbands are available now through Thursday, April 23rd.

Wristband Details

Each wristband is valid for one day only and may be used on one of the following days:

  • Friday, April 24 (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
  • Sunday, April 26 (12:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

Please note that presale wristbands are not valid on Saturday.

 

Additional Information

Wristbands are required for carnival rides. Attendees planning to attend multiple days must purchase a wristband for each day of participation.

Vendor Application

Interested in becoming a vendor for this year’s festival? The City of McFarland is currently accepting booth applications for the Cinco de Mayo Festival taking place April 24–26 at Jim White “Blanco” Park. Vendors may apply under the categories of Food, Selling Vendor, or Resource/Non Profit. Applicants will be asked to provide their full name, business name, address, phone number, email, type of items sold, and the day or days they plan to participate. Vendors may select one or multiple festival days. Applications also ask whether the vendor has a McFarland business license, and food vendors must indicate whether they have the required Kern County health permit.

Applications can be completed online at mcfarlandcity.org or picked up in person at City Hall 401 W. Kern Avenue. To secure a spot, vendors must have all necessary licenses and permits required by the City and County. Applications can also be emailed to CommunityDevDept@cityofmcfarland.ca.gov 

All vendors should be prepared to pay all required vendor fees and any other associated fees. Failure to pay applicable fees may result in the vendor being unable to participate in festival activities.

ALL FOOD SELLING VENDORS MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE KERN COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PERMIT

Selling vendors may participate for all three festival days for a flat rate of $200, or they may choose a Sunday-only option for $125. Please note that a $10 temporary business license is required for each day of participation. Payments may be completed at City Hall.

Resource/Non-Selling booths are not required to pay any fees

Cinco de Mayo Parade Sign-Ups Are Now Open

The City of McFarland is now accepting parade sign-ups for this year’s Cinco de Mayo Parade.

The parade will take place on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 PM. Community members, organizations, businesses, schools, and groups are encouraged to participate and be part of the celebration.

Cinco de Mayo Parade and Road Closures

The City of McFarland invites the community to attend the Cinco de Mayo Parade on Sunday, April 26. The parade will begin at 2:00 PM at Browning Road Park, continue south on Browning Rd, turn onto Sherwood Ave, and end at Blanco Park. The parade will take place rain or shine.

To support public safety during Cinco de Mayo weekend, temporary road closures will be in effect in event areas. Residents and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and allow additional travel time.
