City Manager

Overview

The City Manager serves as the chief administrative officer for the City and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of all municipal services. Appointed by the City Council, the City Manager works to implement Council policies, manage City resources, and ensure that services are delivered efficiently and effectively to the community.

The role is central to maintaining a well-run, responsive, and transparent local government.

Key Responsibilities

Implementation of City Council Policies
The City Manager carries out the policies and priorities established by the City Council, ensuring that decisions made at the policy level are effectively executed through City operations.

Oversight of Daily Operations
The City Manager oversees all City departments and services, ensuring that programs and operations run smoothly and meet the needs of residents.

Budget Development and Financial Management
Working closely with City staff and the City Council, the City Manager prepares and administers the City’s annual budget. This includes monitoring revenues and expenditures, maintaining fiscal responsibility, and planning for long-term financial stability.

Staff Leadership and Administration
The City Manager provides leadership to department heads and City staff, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high-quality public service across all departments.

Strategic Planning and Project Management
The City Manager helps guide the City’s long-term vision by coordinating major initiatives, infrastructure projects, and community development efforts.

Community Engagement and Communication
The City Manager serves as a key point of contact between the City organization and the public, working to ensure transparency, responsiveness, and trust in local government.

Departments and Services Overseen

The City Manager provides oversight and coordination for all City departments, which may include:

  • City Administration

  • Finance

  • Public Works (Streets, Water, Maintenance)

  • Community Development (Planning, Building, Code Enforcement)

  • Police Department
