Fire Hydrant Flushing

The City of McFarland Water Department will be conducting a Fire Hydrant Flushing Program from Wednesday, March 4 through Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Fire hydrant flushing is an important maintenance activity that helps keep the City’s water system operating safely and effectively. This process removes sediment from water mains, helps maintain proper chlorine levels, and ensures that fire hydrants are fully operational for fire protection throughout the community.

Flushing will take place by designated color-coded areas on specific dates. During flushing, residents may notice temporary water discoloration (yellow or brown), cloudy water, or a slight drop in water pressure. These conditions are normal and temporary. If discoloration occurs, residents are advised to run cold water for five to ten minutes until the water clears and to avoid washing white laundry while flushing is occurring in their area.

A flushing map and area schedule have been provided on the City’s website to help residents identify when flushing is scheduled in their neighborhood. Please note that flushing dates and areas are subject to change based on operational needs.

Residents are encouraged to visit the City of McFarland’s website at www.mcfarlandcity.org for the most up-to-date information, including the public notice, flushing map, and schedule.

For questions or concerns, please contact City Hall at (661) 792-3091.

The City of McFarland appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we work to maintain a safe, clean, and reliable water system.
