The department's commitment to the youth in our community is demonstrated by its support of the Police Explorer Post.
In partnership with Boy Scouts of America, the Explorer Program provides young men and women the opportunity to study the field of law enforcement and community service. The Explorer Program is a career development program, which focuses on self-discipline, character development, and academic study. Explorers also assist police and city personnel at functions where they may be utilized for a variety of tasks, assisting with searches of missing children, distributing information, or fingerprinting children, just to name a few. Each year, the Explorers contribute countless volunteer hours towards community service for the McFarland Police Department and the City of McFarland.
